Websites for farms

People are looking for a farm like yours.

Most of them never find you.

You have already done the hard part. The stand is stocked, the tours run, the gate is open. But someone deciding where to go this weekend looks it up on their phone first, and they go to the farm that comes up. That is usually not the best farm. It is the one that was easiest to find.

That is what I fix. I build your website, set up your Google listing and, if you want it, your social page, so that when someone nearby goes looking, your farm is the one they land on.

A phone showing three farms on a map, and someone tapping the one with five stars Your farm shop 5.0 Farm shop, pick your own farm shop near me

What someone sees when they go looking for a farm near them.

You are already doing one of these

And both are growing. The only question is which farms get that growth.

Hosting visitors on your farm

Tours, workshops, pick your own, a corn maze in the fall, a field open for an event.

$44,000 a year
on average, for the farms doing it. Across the country that is $1.26 billion, up 12% in five years.

Selling straight to consumers

A stand at the gate, the farmers market, a box scheme, an online shop for what you grow.

$17.5 billion
is the market those farms are sharing, up 25% since 2017. And there are 10% fewer farms sharing it than five years ago.

1 in 65

farms in the country earn anything from visitors. 28,617 out of nearly 1.9 million.

57%

of US counties already have farms taking money from visitors, so buyers are everywhere, not only near cities.

116,617

farms sell straight to people, down from 130,000 five years ago. A bigger market, split between fewer farms.

So here is what I build

Everything your farm needs to be found.

Three things decide whether your farm turns up when someone nearby goes looking, and they work best when they point at each other. I build all three, and I keep them up to date for you.

Not just on the list. Near the top of it, and better looking than what sits around you.

A website

The one place that is yours, where the whole story is told properly. This can include a webshop to buy things, or a place to book a tour.

A Google listing

This is how people find your website and where you are on the map. It gives an overview of your offers, hours, directions, and more.

A social media page

This is where you build community, and where people can interact with you.

A farm site I built. Tap to open it.

I can build and host all three of these for you.

It will be built around your farm, tailored to your style, and updated and maintained by me. All you do is shoot me an email when you want changes. If you feel like you can host and manage it yourself that is fine too, that part is optional.

If you already have a good website, Google listing, or social media account, and you just want me to add, tweak, or manage it, no problem. We can talk about it and I will quote you.

What it costs

Request a quote

Every farm wants a slightly different set of things, so I price it per farm.

$249 to $399on average, one off

What can go in it:

  • A website built around your farm, on your own domain.
  • A webshop, if you want to sell things online.
  • A booking page for tours, events, a stay, or a table.
  • Your Google listing claimed, verified and filled in: hours, what you sell, the season, photos, directions people can actually follow.
  • A review link you can hand to customers.
  • Your social pages set up and pointed at the site, so all three say the same thing.
  • Reads properly on a phone, which is how most people will see it.
  • Set up so Google can understand what you do and where you are.
  • The files and the domain are yours.

Optional: I look after it for you

You do not have to take this. If you would rather host and manage it yourself, that is fine.

$25 to $99a month, depending on what you want

What that covers:

  • Hosting, the security certificate and the domain renewal, all handled.
  • Changes when things change: new season, new hours, a price, a new photo.
  • Reviews answered, and new ones chased up for you.
  • Posts written and put out on your website and your social pages.
  • Your Google listing kept straight all year.
  • Someone to email when something looks wrong, instead of working it out yourself.

No minimum term, cancel with a month's notice, and the site is still yours.

Joost, who builds the sites

About me

My name is Joost. I spent years working with farmers before I started this, which is why farms are the one kind of business I build for where I already know how the money actually works.

I am a one man team. I am good with websites and I know how search engines work, and I think a good one should not be expensive. That is the whole reason I do this.

Have a look before you decide anything

I will build you a demo of your own farm's site, free, so you are looking at the real thing rather than a sample. Tell me these and I will send you the link.

Email me the details

That opens your email app with the questions already in it.

Or write to me yourself: joost@appalachiansites.com
